Open Letter to Prime Minister Scott Morrison
Written by Dr Judy Ryan
Dear Current Prime Minister Scott Morrison,
With all due respect we did not vote Malcolm Turnbull, or you, to be our Prime minister. We voted for Tony Abbott on his promise to get rid of the carbon tax. We also appreciated his honesty when describing its ‘virtues’.
Some people said that you would be a more polished form of Tony Abbott, but sadly you are not. The evidence indicates that you are a puppet PM for the United Nations just as Malcolm Turnbull was.
Where is the honest man who took a lump of coal into parliament house and praised its virtues. Why have you morphed into this man who now turns against coal and against his colleagues. (see The Australian today)
If you do not take the obvious, imperative steps to restore reliable, affordable energy to the people of Australia, you will lose the leadership of your party. Maybe the voters would prefer that you hand leadership over to Tony Abbott, or someone like him, before the election. You will have to do it after the election anyway if, as the evidence indicates, the Liberal/National Party Coalition become the opposition.
Please put the needs of the energy impoverished people of Australia above your personal ambitions.
In conclusion, we apologise for having to write such a strong letter. However, we fear that our fragile, representative democracy is in danger of collapsing. Please save and strengthen it.
